About Lisbon

Lisbon is Portugal’s capital and largest city, spread over 85 square kilometres along the Tagus River estuary.

Its geography includes seven hills that shape distinct neighbourhoods and viewpoints.

The oldest quarter, Alfama, is a maze of narrow streets reflecting Lisbon’s medieval past. Visitors arriving via Humberto Delgado Airport find the city centre just 7 km to the south, where the 25th of April Bridge links Lisbon westward across the river. Summer highs rarely pass 28 °C, making June festivals a highlight amid mild winters.
